“I’M IN AND ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND VOTE”
We have accomplished so much since I took office in 2008. We are still getting things done and leading the way in service and technology right here in Rockingham-Harrisonburg. We never pause for a moment in looking for new and better ways to serve you. Here are some accomplishments that make me so very proud of the team I have in place:
- Well over TEN MILLION images to you in our online systems related to land records, court cases, wills, marriage’s and other historic records from the present back to 1778
- Created the first “hard card” Concealed Handgun Permit now used across Virginia
- Partnered with Permitium to create the best functioning online Concealed site in Virginia
- Streamlined many clerk/court procedures for better public service
- Partnered with many 3rd party vendors to keep more funds in the private sector and NOT with the government
- Created right here a jury system called EZJury that is now used in 30 of the 120 courts in Virginia
- Created an online juror portal for public and court staff that saves hundreds of hours each year.
- Partnered with RapidFund to pay jurors the same day of service, saving the County hours of time and money in cutting and mailing hard checks a month or more after service.
- Partnered with James Madison University Public History and Library leaders to create “Histories of the Blue Ridge (formerly Exploring Rockingham’s Past) where clerks from across the Valley have the opportunity to obtain incredible historical items from courts. I launched this with the first two pieces being the Shenandoah National Park cases and later the Prohibition cases.
- Successfully brought back over $350,000 of your local money through grant processes to restore historical items.
These are only a few of the technology enhancements since I arrived, but ones that I think will interest you and hopefully earn your support and vote this year.
I take so much pride in the work that we do here in Rockingham-Harrisonburg. We must be doing good things when clerks come from across Virginia to see our practices hands-on to save time and money for their localities.
Since taking office in 2008, my kids have grown up here and gone to school here. Two are married and I now proudly wear my Papa (grampa) hat with pride with two grand-children and hopefully more in the future. I work hard to make my kids and my bride Ginny proud and am always grateful that you gave US this opportunity to serve and trust us with your vote.
If you entrust me in serving another term, I promise that I will continue to look for opportunities to make this office more efficient and effective in the work we do for our community. We will continue to partner each year with dozens of local entities and non-profits to further our sense of community and being neighborly as we are known to do.
It is an honor to serve the people of Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg. Thank you for your prayers, financial support, introductions to friends and certainly that vote on election day.
I’m ready for another term with new projects ready to be launched that will make us stand out even more as an exceptional office of public servants.
